How does the human brain work?/ The German scientist makes the big discovery

German-American scientist Südhof has discovered how brain cells communicate with each other. 

"All functions in the brain – from vision, smell and decision-making to feelings – work through cells communicating with each other. I am interested in how this process comes about," he says. 

In 2013 he received the Nobel Prize in Medicine for his research results.

Südhof was originally concerned with cholesterol metabolism. When given the opportunity to conduct independent research, he recalls asking questions no one had asked before. The decision to research there was also an emotional one for the brain:
