Rapper Kanye West has entered into a deal to buy Parler, a right-wing social media service that bills itself as a "free speech platform," its owner said Monday.

Parlamt Technologies announced the news in a press release, saying the deal would help create "an irrevocable ecosystem where all voices are welcome."

Quoted in the press release, West said: "In a world where conservative opinions are considered controversial, we must ensure that we have the right to express ourselves freely."

Parler e sheh veten si një "platformë globale e fjalës së lirë" dhe njihet për politikat më pak strikte të moderimit të përmbajtjes sesa platformat e tjera të mediave sociale.

Parler u sulmua gjatë trazirave të 6 janarit në Kapitol, kur disa përdorues dolën në platformën e mediave sociale për të brohoritur për protestuesit dhe për të bërë thirrje për më shumë dhunë.  Pas trazirave,  “Amazon Web” Services hoqi “Parler” nga shërbimi i saj i mbajtjes në internet dhe platforma u  ndalua gjithashtu nga dyqanet  “Apple” dhe “Google .”

Former Parler CEO John Matze sued the company in March 2021, accusing it of "stealing" his 40% ownership stake. Matze claimed that the company fired him after he proposed stricter content moderation./ CNA.al
