Elon Musk, during a podcast interview, said that he once lived in a "haunted mansion".

Musk compared his former home in the Bay Area to the home of "The Shining."

"It's the creepiest house I've ever lived in," Musk said, referring to times when he heard "strange noises" and doors seemed to open and close by themselves.

The house, which Musk sold in December for about $30 million, is 16,000 square feet and has seven bedrooms, 9.5 bathrooms and a pool.

Musk, the world's richest man, originally bought the home in 2017 for about $23 million, according to the Zilloë listing.

The 47-acre property represents "one of the largest parcels of land" in San Francisco and dates back to around 1912, according to the old listing on Redfin.

Musk's San Francisco mansion was the last home he sold last year after vowing to sell all his belongings to fund a Mars colony. The billionaire made about $130 million after selling some of his real estate.

Since then, Musk has said he lives in a "very small" 3-bedroom house in South Texas, which is valued at about $45,000./ CNA.al
