OFFICIAL/ In the race for the World Cup, the European national team fires the coach

Ivan Hasek is no longer the coach of the Czech Republic national team, following the 2-1 loss to the Faroe Islands in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The result was deemed unacceptable by the Czech Football Federation, leading to the immediate termination of cooperation.

The defeat has left the Czech Republic in a difficult position in the group, which is now three points behind Croatia, which has a game in hand. For Hasek, this was his second spell in charge of the national team, but his adventure ended after 21 matches.

The federation is expected to appoint an interim coach in the coming days. The goal remains to maintain the chances of capturing second place and securing participation in the play-off phase.

The situation in the group has become complicated, as the defeat to the Faroe Islands has created great pressure on the team. The name of the new coach is expected to be determined before the next qualifying match.
