Luftëtari "disappears", SHRF Gjirokastër proposes Duka as

The Gjirokastër Regional Football Association held the proceedings of the 2026 General Electoral Assembly today.

This meeting was attended by 8 members of the association, represented by 9 delegates, who discussed the items set out in the agenda, which related to the association's activity report, the approval of the financial statements, the approval of the budget for 2026, the election of the new president, the expulsion of members, as well as the proposal of candidacies for President and members of the Executive Committee of the Albanian Football Association.

One of the most important items on the agenda was the election of the new president of SHRF Gjirokastër for the next four-year term. The Verification Commission, the body responsible for organizing the election process, stated that the commission had only received one candidacy for the position of President, specifically the request for candidacy from Mr. Gligor Çabeli, proposed by the members KF Përmeti, FK Këlcyra, AF Luftëtari, KF Memaliaj, Delvina Football Club and AF Memaliaj.

The General Electoral Assembly of the SHRF Gjirokastër, with complete unanimity, decided to elect Mr. Gligor Çabeli as Chairman of the SHRF Gjirokastër for a four-year term.

After the election, Gligor Çabeli thanked the members for the trust they have placed in him, emphasizing that this mandate is a great responsibility and an opportunity to contribute to the development and progress of football in the region.

“I would like to thank each of you for the trust and support you gave me by electing me President of the Gjirokastër Regional Football Association. This is an important moment for me and for the entire football community in our region. A special thanks goes to the current president, Mr. Sadik Sadikaj, for the valuable work and dedication he has shown over the years and continues to show, contributing continuously to this association moving forward. His work and experience are an important value for all of us. The mandate entrusted to me represents not only a great responsibility, but also an opportunity to make my contribution to the development and progress of football in our region. I fully understand the importance of this position and I am committed to working with dedication, transparency and open cooperation with all clubs and members of the Association. I have full confidence that, together, we will manage to face the challenges and achieve our objectives,” said the President of the Gjirokastër Regional Football Association, Gligor Çabeli.

During the assembly proceedings, the association's activity report, financial statements and budget for 2026 were also approved. SHRF Gjirokastër will be represented at the AFF General Assembly by President Gligor Çabeli as a delegate.

The General Electoral Assembly of SHRF Gjirokastër, with 9 votes in favor, 0 against and 0 abstentions, decided to exclude the Luftëtari Football Club SH.A from membership due to the closure of the activity.

All members of the SHRF Gjirokastër voted to propose as a candidate for the position of President of the Albanian Football Federation Mr. Armand Duka. While as a candidate for member of the Executive Committee of the Albanian Football Federation Mr. Arben Dervishaj, currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Albanian Football Federation, was voted.
