Milan suffers against Roma, Inter gets "assist" at the top

The 22nd week of Serie A brought the first draw of the season for Roma, who until this point in the championship had only registered wins or losses. At the “Olimpic” stadium, the yellow and reds held Milan to a 1-1 draw, a result that allows Inter to break away at the top with a five-point advantage over the Rossoneri and that brings Roma to the same points quota with Napoli.

In the first half, Roma was the dominant team, controlling the game and creating several clear scoring chances.

Malen was very active in the opposing area, but was stopped several times by goalkeeper Majk Menjo's decisive interventions and, on another occasion, made a mistake in finishing by sending the ball out.

Even Çelik and Kone tried to find the way to the net, but they were faced with an in-form Menji, who made at least four crucial saves, keeping Milan in the game until the break.

In the second half, Milan changed their approach, raising the pressure line and appearing more often in the Roma area.

This change was rewarded in the 61st minute, when De Vinter scored the opening goal after a corner kick, taking advantage of an insecurity in the home defense.

After the goal conceded, coach Gasperini reacted by reorganizing the offensive department, with the activation of Vaz and Pelegrini.

The changes had the desired effect and Roma equalized in the 74th minute. After a handball in the area by Bartesagi, the referee awarded a penalty to the yellows, which captain Lorenzo Pellegrini converted into a goal, putting the score in balance.

The remaining minutes brought no changes in the scores, with both teams managing to draw.

 


With this result, Roma and Milan were separated by one point, in a match that directly affected the top of the table.

Roma climbs to third place with 43 points, level with Napoli, while Milan remains behind Inter, but continues without defeat in 21 matches.
