Albania convinces, but is defeated by England. Harry Kane scores

The Albanian national team was defeated 0-2 by England at the “Air Albania” stadium, in the last match of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. This match ends a positive journey for the red and blacks, which culminated in the historic achievement of qualifying for the “play off” phase. Against one of the strongest representatives on the continent, Albania developed a very good performance for most of the time, especially in the first half and in the first minutes of the second half.

The first half ended goalless. At the start of the second half, Albania created two good chances with Hoxha and Bajram, which were not used. As the minutes passed, England increased the pressure and managed to unlock the game in the 74th minute, when Harry Kane scored after a situation created by a corner kick. The English striker also scored the second goal in the 82nd minute, with a header after a cross from Rashford.

Despite the result, Albania ends this qualifying phase with a positive balance. The Reds are ranked second in the group with 14 points, thus ensuring participation in the “play off”. England, on the other hand, closes Group K in first place with 24 full points, without conceding a single goal throughout the campaign. The Albanian national team will now focus on preparations for the March challenges, which will be crucial for the dream of qualifying for the World Cup.
