The "Negreira" case endangered Barcelona's participation in the Champions League, UEFA reveals the decision made

Good news in the house of Barcelona regarding the 'Negreira case'. According to what the newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo' reports, UEFA has communicated to the Blaugrana club, the official participation in the Champions League for the 2023-24 season.

Barcelona have actually received notice from the highest European football body, giving the green light after analyzing all the documents related to the 'Negreira case'. UEFA's 007, underlines the Spanish newspaper, has completed the evaluation work, concluding that Barça has all the credentials to play in the most prestigious continental club tournament next season.

The report by two inspectors appointed by UEFA's Ethics and Disciplinary Committee, Mirjam Koller and Jean-Samuel Leuba - were investigating "a possible breach of the legal framework" by Barcelona over the 'Negreira case'. The result was positive, as no violations were found. UEFA's Appeals Committee will now have ten days to make a final decision, with the Catalan club confident of a favorable outcome to the case, on the strength of the report from the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee at its disposal.

If UEFA's OK comes through, Xavi's Barcelona will be part of the first pot for the Champions League group stage draws, in the company of Manchester City, Sevilla, PSG, Napoli, Bayern, Benfica and Feyenoord.
