Italy goes to the World Cup, but not with the national team
Italy will not participate as a national team in the World...
Sweden has secured qualification for the World Cup, despite finishing last in the qualifying group with only 2 points and no wins.
Potter's team will play in Group F against the Netherlands, Japan and Tunisia. Qualification came thanks to the play-off system and results in the Nations League.
Meanwhile, Italy, led by Gattuso, collected 18 points, but remained out of the World Cup. Poland, with 17 points, was also eliminated, after losing the final by a goal in the 90th minute to Sweden.
The regulations provide for 4 more teams from the Nations League to participate in the play-offs, in addition to the second-place teams.
