Gasperini is introduced: We can't think about the title

Gian Piero Gasperini has been officially presented as the new coach of Roma, after signing a contract valid until June 2028.

During the presentation, in the presence of Claudio Ranieri, now in a managerial role, Gasperini stressed that the main objective is qualification for the Champions League. He said that the championship title is not currently a realistic goal, but everything remains open.

"I think the maximum result we can achieve is qualification for the Champions League. We can't think that Roma will win the championship title at this moment, but you never know. I say that a place in the Champions League is the best objective to make this team stronger," said the Italian coach.

Roma have not won Serie A since 2001, while their last trophy was the Conference League in 2022. Gasperini comes after a successful spell with Atalanta, where he won the Europa League in 2024 and qualified for the Champions League several times.

He is also expected to make a decision on defender Marash Kumbulla, who returns from loan at Espanyol. Roma will be part of the Europa League next season, where they will seek success under the new coach.
