From champions to total failure, Leicester falls to the third division

Leicester City have mathematically fallen to League One, dropping to the third tier of English football.

A 2-2 draw against Hull City sealed the fate of the team, which was in penultimate place and 7 points away from the safety zone, two weeks before the end.

This drop comes just a year after being relegated from the Premier League to the Championship in May 2025. The club had also received a 6-point penalty for breaching financial regulations.

In the 2015/2016 season, Leicester won the historic Premier League title with Claudio Ranieri on the bench, with players like Kanté and Vardy starring.

President Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha acknowledged the disappointment and lack of excuses for the current situation.

The club now faces the cost of a training complex worth over €100 million. Leicester will have to reorganise for next season in the third tier.
