Sudden changes, driver leaves Red Bull

Sergio Perez, the Mexican pilot who has been part of the Red Bull Formula One team since the 2021 season, has officially ended his cooperation with the Austrian team. His departure, according to a mutual agreement, is immediate. The decision marks the end of a successful four-year period for Perez, during which he played a key role in helping to win two constructors' championship titles in 2022 and 2023.

During his time with Red Bull, Perez managed to win five races and made a significant contribution to the team's successes. At the start of 2024, he had signed a new contract that tied him to the Scuderia until 2026. However, his performance during the final season left something to be desired, finishing third in the overall drivers' standings by a margin a massive 285 points behind teammate, world champion Max Verstappen.

Perez's problems during the second half of the season became apparent, as he collected just nine points in the final eight weekends of the championship. This resulted in Red Bull missing out on the constructors' championship, finishing third behind McLaren and Ferrari. This decline in his form prompted Red Bull's decision to end their partnership with him, leaving the team searching for a successor.

According to international media reports, one of the main candidates to replace Perez is the young pilot from New Zealand, Liam Lauson. The latter, only 22 years old, is seen as a promising talent and an excellent opportunity for the Austrian team.

In a short statement after leaving, Sergio Perez thanked the Red Bull team for the wonderful experience he had during the four years of cooperation. "I've had an incredible time with this team and I'm grateful for the opportunities and successes we've achieved together," he said.

Perez's departure from Red Bull marks a major change for the team and for the driver himself, opening a new chapter for both parties. All eyes are now on Red Bull's decision to choose his successor and the Mexican driver's future career plans.
