Galatasaray defeats Liverpool, spectacle in Istanbul

Galatasaray won 1-0 against Liverpool in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, taking a minimal advantage ahead of the return leg at Anfield.

The only goal of the match was scored in the 7th minute by Mario Lemina, after a headed pass from Victor Osimhen.

Liverpool responded and created several chances, with Mohamed Salah and Hugo Ekitike among the most active in attack. However, goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir and the Galatasaray defense managed to maintain the advantage.

In the second half, Mac Allister came close to equalising, while Osimhen also had a goal disallowed for offside. Liverpool also had a goal disallowed for handball by Ibrahima Konate.

With this success, Galatasaray recorded only their second defeat in their last 47 home matches in all competitions.
