End of a fairytale! Vardy leaves Leicester after 13 years

After more than a decade filled with incredible successes and moments that will remain unforgettable in the history of English football, Jamie Vardy has announced his departure from Leicester City at the end of this season.

Vardy's career represents a rare and inspiring story. He joined Leicester in 2012 from humble Fleetwood Town for a modest fee of just £1m. At the time, Vardy was an unknown name on the elite football scene, but within a few years he had become the symbol of the most incredible success in the modern history of the Premier League.

His rise from the fifth tier of English football to winning the league title with Leicester in the 2015-16 season is a true fairytale. With 24 goals that season, including a new Premier League record of 11 consecutive games in which he scored, Vardy played a major role.

During his 13 years at the King Power, Vardy helped the club win the Premier League for the first time in history and then the FA Cup in 2021. He also won the Golden Boot in the 2019-20 season and became one of the most highly regarded strikers in Europe for his playing style, sudden bursts of speed and instinct for goal.

But his departure comes at a difficult time for the club and for Vardy himself. Leicester have already been relegated from the Premier League for the second time in as many years, a season that Vardy himself has described as a "total disgrace" and a "shithole" for the club.
