CNA TV traveled to the village of Vërçun, municipality of Pogradec, to the Peleshka family, consisting of 5 members. A family with numerous health problems and a house in deplorable conditions.
The concern of the family is precisely the 12-year-old boy, who suffers from severe epilepsy and cannot even speak or get out of bed.
The head of the family Aristir Peleshka tells CNA TV about the difficulties he faces every day to make a living. All members of the family are sick, the eldest son has had several operations, while the condition of the youngest son, Flori, keeps getting worse.
"My family is made up of 5 people, my mother, my wife and two sons. My mother had an eye operation, she could not regain her sight and became blind, she has been taking camp for 8 years. I am her guardian. we receive the income as defined by the law, 27 thousand new lek in these last years because it has not been that much. I have a wife, 12 years ago we had the birth of our little son, we followed it up with a doctor. It was not dictated during the checks, when it came down to it in the end it didn't work out, it's with severe epilepsy and other diagnoses that doctors know better.

I followed and did all the medical services, they also received me well, so much so that I was able to help him because he is damaged since birth. The boy is 12 years old, paralyzed in half of his body, he stays in bed, does not move, does not speak. Communicates with the mother through signs, reactions, does not walk and does not gain weight. The service has not been lacking, it is my wife's work, her patience, I can call her a heroine. We accepted this trial, he gave it to us."
The family's income is only from the camps received by Aristiri's blind mother and also the family's little son. Income that can go up to 60 thousand new lek, but that cannot fulfill even the basic needs of the family.

"The main income in this family is from the camps and the two custodians, approximately 60 thousand new lek, and in recent years it was not that much. It was 10-15 thousand new lek at first. I myself deal a little with the lands, as much as I can because I myself am sick, I have heart problems, until last year my heart gave out and I had an operation, I put a device in my heart. They guaranteed me a life of 10 years, but it is not known there. The month is barely we take out, with sacrifice, leaving many things to the mangoes, but I follow them for the medical and food service part. I got to the point where I took on debt and by working in poverty I paid it off by taking income from the garden and the cow I have. A life with sacrifice, not joyful. I can't say I'm fine."
Vërçuni is a mountain village, 30 km from Pogradec, while for Aristir it is impossible to work as the lack of strength as well as the lack of transport conditions make it difficult to go to the city to secure work.

The difficult situation of the family is also shown by the wife, Dhurata Peleshka. She is the one who takes care of the little boy 24 hours a day, with many vicissitudes, while she tells through tears how difficult it is to take care of her child.
"It is very difficult, with great suffering, with patience. I finish with the son, I start with the mother-in-law, she is completely blind. I have to take this child to the hospital many times, here he has a complaint from his mouth because he does not know how to speak but I know him because his gums are red. I can't put aside a single lek because these are expenses. As for medicines, the state only gives me Depakine for free and for blood circulation, I buy the others with lek. 15 thousand new lek only the boy's medicines. As his guardian, together with the boy's camp, we receive 23 thousand new lek, but I told you that 15 thousand new lek goes to the medicine plus the roads that we take him to the hospital in Pogradec.

There are cases where I haven't taken him because we had money, while Tirana is more difficult because I have to take him there more definitely, in cases where no one takes over here. I also took him for his teeth, as soon as the doctors see him they say "no, we can't take him on", that he is a child with problems and they have to use anesthesia. To Pogradec, 5 thousand new lek only costs me the road, the medicine that the doctor gives after the visit goes up to 3 thousand new lek, and I have to buy it. I am sick myself, now I have diabetes, without medicine, without anything."
After talking at length about the difficult conditions in which this family finds itself, we ask them what would be the best solution to alleviate the problematic situation with which they sleep and wake up every day. Both spouses, between prayers addressed to the municipality, or even private businesses, seek to move closer to the city of Pogradec, with an apartment that can be found either for rent, or even with a rental bonus provided by the municipality. The distance of the village from the city has quite large costs, and an apartment near the Pogradec hospital would be the solution to many family problems.

"I ask to be with the boy wherever possible, who can put his hand on the heart especially for the boy, as he can do for their child, to be close to the Pogradec hospital. Because I can't afford it, I really have done the service, but I can also stay because he is a child who needs to be bought and made. 10 thousand new lek I only get the yogurt, 15 thousand new lek I pay for the medicine he takes, and there is nothing left."
"At the moment where I am, the best help would be, if it were possible from the state or businesses, a social apartment 1 to 1, I don't want a luxury apartment, I want to have an apartment there because here in the winter it gets blocked and the road. To be close to the hospital center in any case, whether for the son or for the mother, we can take you there more easily, because there is a taxi service there. It would be a help, how can I call it, a gift from God. Who will do this thing, I will be grateful to you all my life."

CNA TV has addressed the difficult case of the Peleshka family in the village of Vërçun in Pogradec, appealing to the municipality to take immediate measures to help and facilitate the living of the 5 family members.
We are making the contact numbers of the two spouses available to anyone who wants to help this family. Likewise, we will do our best to find a quick solution for the Peleshka family through the chronicle and efforts with the municipality.
