The Chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has congratulated on social networks the election of His Beatitude, Joan as Archbishop of the Albanian Autocephalous Orthodox Church.

Meta writes that he is happy about the election of His Beatitude Joan and that he worked with him when he was head of the Metropolis of Korça.

" At this historic moment for the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania, I express my most heartfelt congratulations to His Beatitude, Joan Pelushi, for his election by the Holy Synod to the high office of Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and all Albania. I am doubly happy for the election to this very important office of an extraordinary personality, whom I know closely and whom I had the fortune to collaborate with in high state duties when he led the Holy Metropolis of Korça."
