The three cases with scabies disease/ Epidemiologist: There is no room for alarm

A few days ago, the disease of scabies, otherwise known as scabies, appeared in the southeast, affecting three children in Pogradec. At the moment, the three cases have been isolated, but the concern on the part of the families remains high because this infectious disease is easily transmitted to people who may have contact with the affected.

Alvi Naum, epidemiologist at the Korçë Local Health Care Unit, has shown the current situation in which the three affected children were diagnosed. According to the data, the epidemiologist says that two of the cases are residents of Korça and another resident of the village of Veliterna in Maliq.

"The cases appeared in Pogradec, it was our counterparts who discovered three cases of scabies and referred them to us. They are residents of Korça but they were discovered in the city of Pogradec. One child is a resident of Veliterna, while the other two are residents of the city of Korça. According to the protocols of infectious diseases, the epidemiology service has taken the necessary measures. The family doctors have been notified to follow up the case, and another team has been deployed in Veliterna, near the families. sanitary hygiene and living conditions of those children."

According to the epidemiologist, the cases are sporadic and there is no room for alarm, while all measures are being taken to check kindergartens and schools in the city and villages.

"Everything is fine, there are still sporadic cases. While 4 groups from the epidemiology service have been organized in the UJVKShK, they are combing the area in kindergartens and schools, to catch cases, where so far we have had none."

In this situation, Alvi Naum follows the advice of doctors, who call for, in case of skin redness or severe itching, to go to a specialist doctor to see if they are related to the disease of scabies.

"The identified cases are in isolation receiving treatment from a specialist doctor and will remain in isolation until complete recovery. Doctors advise that when there are signs of skin redness, severe itching, you should definitely go to the doctor specialist to find out if it's a fluke or something else."

All three cases found by specialist doctors have been isolated in their homes for several days now, while from the controls carried out this contagious disease gives signs from 4 to 7 days to the people who may have been passed on by the affected. The epidemiologist stressed that we are not dealing with an outbreak and the situation remains normal with cases that are on the way to full recovery./ CNA
