Salt, the mineral that kept humanity alive

Salt, the mineral that kept humanity alive

At a time when everything is demonized, let's remember a fundamental truth: the human body does not function without sodium.

85% of headaches, fatigue, dizziness, or low blood pressure are often due to a simple lack of salt.

Not always stress, not always tension, but hyponatremia: low sodium levels in the blood, leading to disruption of cellular balance and nerve function.

What happens when there is no salt? Dietitian Diola Dosti has shared some tips.

When you restrict salt too much, the body loses electrolytes. Water no longer stays inside the cells. Cortisol (the stress hormone) increases.

Circulation drops and the brain becomes dehydrated, so you experience headaches, fatigue, and mental fog.

Salt is not an "enemy," but rather our electric battery.

What if I eat too much salt?

If the salt is raw, the body regulates it itself and excretes the excess through urine.

But if you consume too much refined sugar, insulin increases and the body retains sodium, and thus bloating occurs, not from salt, but from sugar.

Don't blame real salt for what sugar did.

More salt = more life

When data from the Intersalt Study was analyzed, it was found that countries with higher salt consumption also had higher life expectancies.

This is not because of the salt itself, but because salt maintains cellular balance, circulation, oxygenation, and nerve function.

The difference between real salt and industrial salt

Table salt:

-Chemically bleached, loses minerals

-Added with aluminum and synthetic anti-sticking agents

-There are only Na and Nl= electrolyte imbalances.

Raw salt (sea salt, himalayan, celtic):

-Contains over 80 minerals (K, Mg, Ca, Zn, Si…)

-Helps with tension, sleep, digestion, mood, and Hh.

-Strengthens immunity and prevents muscle cramps

The history of salt

In ancient times, salt was worth more than gold. Roman soldiers were paid in salt, which is where the word “salary” comes from. Trade routes and wars were fought over this mineral. Without it, there would be no life, no brain, no functioning muscles.

Studies

PMID: 33351135- Natural salt intake is associated with longer life and lower mortality.

PMID: 28325999- Sea salt protected the kidneys and blood pressure in animals with oxidative stress.

Your body doesn't need "zero sodium", but for balance, for life, for cellular electricity!
