For 2 years now, the Albanian Government has declared vocational education a priority. At the end of the 2024-2025 school year, the vocational schools "Ndre Mjeda" in Bushat and "Hamdi Bushati" in Shkodra underwent practical exams.
Meanwhile, in July 2024, the Government presented the dual system pilot project, as part of the vocational education reform, according to which young people involved in a vocational program would complete 3 days of internship at a business and only two days of theoretical instruction at a vocational school.

"We have been cooperating with the 'Hamdi Bushati' school for many years and each time they have brought us talented students in the field of cooking, but also in other sectors. We try on our part to support and encourage young people. We are very satisfied with the vocational schools and I believe that vocational education is showing that it is worth it for young people who want a good job. Now the students are taking the practical exam at our business. What I want to say is that the 'DUAL' project is proving very successful because the students are both working, getting paid and learning. I believe that in the future we will have such collaborations", - Mirsad Berdica, business manager.
Their commitment of 18 hours a week at a business is paid with a monetary amount equal to the minimum wage. At the “Hamdi Bushati” Vocational High School, 21 students became part of the 'Dual' class while taking the exam for this subject in businesses.

"It has been several years since our business and the 'Hamdi Bushati' school have had a correct and very good relationship. They bring different students for internships and we take them with great pleasure because they serve us, not only us, but I believe all restaurants and bars. So far we have been very satisfied and I hope that the cooperation will go to these levels. They are young people who have the desire and will to learn and over the years reality has shown that vocational schools are a very good choice because young people are employed both within the country, but also outside Albania, developing a lot and having good salaries. We will always support them because it is worth it", said Senad Perfati, chef.
Getting a trade, the opportunity for a scholarship, and employment right from school are some of the reasons why students have massively chosen to study at vocational schools in recent years./CNA
