In the village of Pojan in Maliqi, where the scent of roses accompanies every step through the alleys of the neighborhoods, residents have gathered to celebrate a holiday that was born from the love for the most beautiful and symbolic flower, the rose. The Rose Festival, now an annual tradition, is an event that brings together the community, local institutions and all age groups on a day that conveys beauty, fragrance and hope.
Every house in Pojan has at least one rose planted in the yard, and this love for flowers has become a reason to celebrate and share this common wealth with each other. The central square was filled with colors, voices and music. The atmosphere was enlivened by folk songs, traditional dances and stands with dishes prepared by the ladies of the houses, those who, in addition to the kitchen, are also the maintainers of the yards full of roses.
In his speech, Festim Tomorri, Director of Culture at the Municipality of Maliq, emphasized that this celebration is an example of successful cooperation between the community and institutions.
"It was born from the idea that there are many roses in Pojan. There are roses in every house that decorate their outdoor environment. The ladies of the house make many "jewels" of roses. It is a celebration that takes place in close cooperation with the Pojan Administrative Unit, with the 9-year high school of this unit. I can only say thank you for the good organization, where we come with an artistic concert that consists of songs, dances, music. It is a celebration, people should celebrate, be happy and smile. Roses give a good fragrance and smiles. This is the message we give through this celebration ," said Tomorri.
Xhafer Gjyshllari, the village elder, sees this celebration as a sign of hope and continuity for the younger generations.
"This is a rose festival because roses are always flowers and give children hope, as much oxygen as possible. It is a good thing that every family in Pojan has planted a rose. Let us enjoy this festival and continue it as much as possible, and may the municipality gain strength and plant as many roses as possible," said the mayor.
In Pojan, where every yard has a rose and every resident has a smile to share, the holiday is not just a day on the calendar. It is a daily reminder that beautiful things grow with love, care, and dedication.
And as roses continue to bloom on doorsteps, pride blooms in people's hearts for their country and for a tradition that is ready to withstand time, with the fragrance and colors that only a celebration like this can bring./ CNA
