Opposition demands for Veliaj's dismissal revealed, with only Article 62.c

The demands of the opposition parties of the Municipal Council for the dismissal of Veliaj are revealed.

On February 25, 2025, Nisma-LZHK-PR filed for the first time a request to initiate procedures for the replacement of the mayor.

The legal basis used does not refer at any point to any provision of the Constitution.

The only reference is the article that charges the Municipal Council with proposing dismissal to the Council of Ministers.

On May 9, 2025, the group of Democratic Party advisors requested the convening of a meeting of the Municipal Council with the aim of implementing Article 62, letter "c" of the law, "On Local Self-Government" and proposing to the Council of Ministers the dismissal of Mr. Erion Veliaj.

Both letters refer only to Article 62, letter "c" of the Law "On Local Self-Government".

In none of the requests does the article of the Constitution that staunch oppositionists are shouting about needing to be protected appear anywhere.

The opposition's alliance with Veliaj's lawyers in the latter's intentions to win Strasbourg trials makes the entire opposition "battle" to replace the mayor questionable.

Article 115 was the article chosen by Veliaj's lawyers to block the dismissal process.

That article is not found in any of the paragraphs of the requests drafted by the opposition in the Municipal Council.

That article entered the opposition's mouth only after it was written by Veliaj's lawyers. And that explains everything. / CNA
