The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has given a statement to the media following the Constitutional Court's decision to suspend President Bajram Begaj's decree on the date of the elections in the municipality of Tirana.

Berisha said he appreciated the decision, saying it was made in defense of the Constitution. He also added that President Begaj should be dismissed from office.

"We cannot deny that there have been decisions that the Constitutional Court has found wretched. But if the Constitutional Court has decided to protect the Constitution, we have no reason not to appreciate it. Where is Begaj's integrity to resign? He should be dismissed. We will work for Tirana every day, but we will also respect the Constitutional Court. This is a victory for every Albanian," Berisha said./CNA
