Rama responds to "TikTok"/ "Albanians decide in Albania, not the

Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted on the "X" network after the statement made by the "TikTok" application after the government's decision to close this platform.

Rama emphasized that this reaction is not hasty to an event, but according to him, a decision widely consulted with parents and schools.

Also, Rama emphasized that the application "TikTok" is dangerous for young people and children.

"Banning TikTok for (at least) one year in Albania is not a hasty reaction to a simple event, but a decision widely consulted with parent communities in schools throughout Albania. TikTok does not have what clarifications it requires from Albania, because in Albania the Albanians decide, not the owners of the TikTok algorithm. While Albania is too small to ask TikTok to protect children and youth from the terrifying abyss of its algorithm, it wishes that TikTok should do this for the benefit of all humanity, including Albania.

To say that the murder of the teenage student has nothing to do with TikTok, because the conflict was not generated by Tik Tok, means that you have not understood either the seriousness of the threat that platostorm has brought to the children and youth of this time, nor the thread of reasoning of our decision to take responsibility for responding to that threat.

Fortunately, Albania is a democratic country, where when over 90% of parents demand the ban of TikTok and when the overwhelming majority believes that the health of our children cannot serve the platform, but the platform must serve the health of our children, then the decision ours could not be clearer:

Either TikTok itself must protect the children of Albania or Albania will protect its children from TikTok"
