Former MP Myslim Murrizi has reacted on social media regarding electoral reform, taking the German model as an example and addressing MEPs McAllister and Krichbaum directly.

Murrizi says that in Germany, MPs are elected by citizens through open lists and not through closed lists drawn up by party leaders. According to him, this system guarantees direct representation and strengthens the sovereignty of the citizens' vote.

Referring to the electoral reform in Albania, according to him, the process is being managed by Rama and Berisha. He states that the current system gives party leaders control over the composition of the Assembly and requires the approval of 100% open lists, as well as the declaration of Albania as a single electoral zone.

In his message, Murrizi calls on McAllister and Krichbaum to publicly explain Germany's electoral model and the way MPs are elected there during their visits to Albania.

Dear Mr. McAllister and Mr. Krichbaum,

This is the ballot paper in your country, Germany.

So, Germans elect their MPs and do not vote for a list of mayors filled with worthless people. Germany has an open-list electoral law and each citizen chooses the one they think represents them best.

Therefore, when you come to visit Albania and hug or kiss Albanian MPs you love, it's a good idea to tell them what kind of electoral system Germany has and how MPs are elected in your country, so that the couple of co-chairs of the electoral reform commission, the SP-PD, don't talk as if they are inventing nuclear weapons.

Also, neither Rama nor Berisha should have the opportunity to be "owners" of Parliament, being the godfathers of militant political parties, because with open lists, neither of them would have servile people around them asking for favors or appearing in photographs.

Mr. McAllister knows what an open-list vote means, because he has experienced it himself: although former Chancellor Angela Merkel preferred him, German citizens did not vote for him in 2013, and he has not been a member of the Bundestag for 13 years. In 2014, he was included in the party's closed list to be an MEP.

Therefore, statements like "great leaders" or "voted by the people" can be sold to those who ask for a photo.

The law that restores democracy and the sovereignty of the citizens' vote, which was violated by the April 2008 agreement between Rama and Berisha, is: 100% open lists and Albania as a single electoral zone.

Discussions about party financing or proposals for 30% closed lists are attempts to maintain seats in the Assembly without real votes and to serve party leaders.
