EU Ambassador Gonzato: Organized crime undermines Albania's economic

A roundtable held this Wednesday brought together representatives of political parties, researchers, the diplomatic community and civil society to discuss preventive measures against organized crime.

The guests placed particular emphasis on the systematic use of measures to prevent the infiltration of organized crime into legitimate businesses and the formal economy.

During his speech, the EU Ambassador to Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, stated that an effective approach against organized crime is needed as an essential measure for the country's integration.

"Blocking crime's access to the legal economy strengthens traditional efforts to combat organized crime. Using tools such as license revocation, verification of participation in public tenders and municipal sanctions, authorities create barriers that prevent criminals from penetrating legitimate businesses. This effective approach against organized crime is essential for Albania's successful integration into the EU," Gonzato said. /CNA
