The Minister of State for the Parliament Taulant Balla commented on the tension created in the Assembly by the opposition MPs during a television appearance.

According to him, the burning of the chairs and all the acts that took place were ordered by the chief democrat Sali Berisha. Balla says that the opposition is trying to damage the country's image, now that we are much closer to EU membership.

"On December 6, 2022, Albania welcomed the Summit of European Leaders and Sali Berisha called a protest. It is no coincidence that every time Albania is in front of a historical moment in what is the journey towards EU membership, Berisha orders violence. Two weeks ago, we will have the Second Intergovernmental Conference between Albania and the EU, which is a historic moment, after a decision by the European Union not to penalize our country and to separate it from North Macedonia. This is the most difficult context in the last 6 years for the EU and the best for Albania in all these years. According to them, the opposition has decided to damage this historical moment with what is happening. The SP did not try to set fire to the Parliament, it went on a hunger strike. I stayed there for 19 days and we did a model strike that is never done again, even I personally would not be able to do it again because I got sick from that strike. Model protest method.
