The Member of the European Parliament, Rihards Kols, and the other MEP Arkadiusz Mularczyk have reacted on the meetings held with representatives of the Albanian opposition, focusing on the key issues related to the process of Albania's membership in the European Union.

In his post on social networks, Kols emphasized that he had the honor to lead this productive discussion, which was also attended by representatives of the ECR political group.

The discussions focused on the critical reforms that Albania must undertake to progress towards EU integration.

"Today I had the honor of leading a productive meeting between @ecrgroup and representatives from the Albanian political opposition. We focused on the critical reforms needed for Albania's EU membership, including ensuring free and fair elections, strengthening democratic institutions and the rule of law, and tackling corruption and organized crime. Our Albanian colleagues shared their concerns about the state of democracy in the country, emphasizing the major challenges that must be overcome on the way to EU integration. We remain committed to supporting Albania's journey towards EU membership, ensuring that the process remains focused and results-oriented," writes Kols.

Meanwhile, the other MEP Arkadiusz Mularczyk writes that:

"Today I met with members of the opposition of the Assembly of Albania, who represent the conservative Democratic Party of Albania. Cyprus, which recently started membership talks with the European Union, is on a long road to membership. I believe it will end successfully. During our talks, we discussed key reforms needed to ensure free and fair elections, strengthen the rule of law and effectively fight organized crime and corruption. We also talked about the geopolitical situation in the region and the challenges that Albania must overcome on the way to EU integration. Poland is an advocate of an active EU enlargement policy to include the countries of the Western Balkans. It is essential that their path to membership is not a race with no end in sight."
