The Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party symbolically addressed Strasbourg to raise its voice against the incrimination of the Rama government, the elections bought by organized crime and the drug mafia.
The Head of the Parliamentary Group Gazment Bardhi and Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Party Agron Gjekmarkaj, MPs Albana Vokshi and Jorida Tabaku held informal meetings with the leaders of the parliamentary groups in the European Parliament, while the DP parliamentary group was outside the EP headquarters in a sensitization demonstration .
Democratic MPs were holding placards with messages addressed to MEPs: "Freedom for Berisha, "Albania - State Party", We want to join Europe, not by boat", Elections in Albania like Stalin's - It matters who counts, not who votes !, "Freedom for deputy Salianji", etc.
Democratic MPs called this symbolic protest in Strasbourg necessary.
Tomorr Alizoti told the media that the PD must urgently establish contacts with the members of the European Parliament, with the members of the CDU, the members of the right-wing parties. "PD should be perceived as a center-right party", said Alizoti.
Edi Paloka emphasized that the sensitization of the Europarliamentarians has to do with the situation in Albania. It has already been proven, he said, that Rama sells every interest and everything of the Albanians to gain a little support, which he calls international support.
"We must sensitize all international institutions about what is happening in Albania. A situation that is getting worse every day. We are not on the verge of dictatorship, we are in dictatorship. What happened to the former president with a gang abduction done deliberately by Edi Rama, there should be no doubt that behind such an act is the hand of Edi Rama is, so to speak, the end of what is considered democracy in Albania. "Sali Berisha was not only recognized as the Chairman of the Democratic Party, but he was asked on behalf of the People's Parties to send representatives of the Democratic Party," said Paloka.
MP Dashnor Sula said that it should be shown to the international opinion that Albania is not as described by Edi Rama or the pro-government media.
"If you draw a parallel between the EP and the Albanian Parliament, the differences are centuries old, in a darkness where the Albanian Parliament is and the EP where it is the symbol of democracy", said MP Sula.
For MP Lindita Metaliaj, the Democratic Party is sensitizing the MEPs to make a scan of the serious and dramatic situation in which Albania is.
"We are in a pre-electoral year where in 2025 we have parliamentary elections and in a country where the Constitution has been destroyed and the rule of law does not exist, where free and fair elections have been eliminated, we are looking for a technical government and elections without Rama as prime minister", said Metaliaj.
MP Petrit Doda reiterated that the opposition is protesting for the rights of citizens because Rama wants to destroy the opposition.
