The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a media conference today. In his speech to journalists, Berisha focused on fiscal changes and the philosophy of economic freedom.
Berisha said that the DP aims to make a fiscal revolution.
Berisha said that in the first three months of the DP's government, the salaries of all Albanian employees, which are taxed on the profit on salary, will increase by 13 percent.
Berisha said that the DP also aims for other changes in its plan for the economy, focusing on the small business tax, the local tax and the construction tax.
"Two philosophies confront each other in this campaign. The philosophy of economic freedom with the philosophy of limiting this freedom. More than in any other area, this is expressed in the attitude of the fiscal burden that weighs on citizens. The philosophy of economic freedom is a flat tax on profit of 10 percent. The philosophy of extorting businesses and citizens, and limiting this freedom, has a profit tax of 15 percent.
The tax on salaries for us will be 10 percent. It is currently 23 percent. Dear citizens, in the first three months of the DP government, the salaries of all Albanian salaried workers, which are taxed on the profit on the salary, will increase by 13 percent. So, salaried workers will have a real salary 13 percent more than today. And this is an unprecedented increase in 12 years. Taxes on income not from salaries, from 15 percent that is in the system of plunder and restriction of economic freedom, will decrease to 10 percent.
Small business without VAT will be up to 180 thousand euros in annual turnover. So, today over 100 thousand euros in annual turnover, VAT is applied. This ceiling increases to 180 thousand euros. Small business without profit tax will be a business with annual turnover up to 180 thousand euros, from 140 thousand euros today. The property transfer tax from 15 percent in the looting system will decrease to 2 percent in the economic freedom system. The infrastructure impact tax from 8 percent will decrease to 2 percent.
If the first is 8 percent of the reference price, our tax will be 2 percent of the estimate, so it gets a very, very big reduction. A reduction of over 10-15 times, which will have a direct impact on the price of apartments and the construction area. The social housing tax is 3 percent, it is completely abolished. Local taxes will be a maximum of 1 percent of turnover. Today they are without a ceiling, they reach 8 and 10 percent of turnover.
And finally, the taboo tax that every Albanian pays on every bite they eat, on everything they buy, on everything, from 20 percent, drops to 15 percent, and this is a record. It becomes the lowest tax in Europe and among the lowest in the world.
With this fiscal revolution we aim to create a more business-friendly climate. To create opportunities for savings and investments for businesses. To create opportunities for salary increases and production incentives. But this fiscal system alone increases 13 percent of Albanians' salaries, despite our promise for an average salary of 1,200 euros that we have made. I think the difference is like night and day, so I invite Albanians to make their choice. It is in their best interest, of their salaries and pensions," Berisha said./CNA
