Public services through technology/ Rama: It has reduced costs, waiting in lines

Prime Minister Edi Rama was present today at the meeting on the topic: "Albania with rapid steps towards the modernization of public administration through artificial intelligence". The meeting was held with heads of institutions, international partners, representatives of the diplomatic corps, and was also attended by the Minister of Economy, Culture & Innovation Blendi Gonxhja, and the Director of AKSHI Linda Karçanaj.

Rama focused on the role and use of public services offered online.

In his speech, Rama said that the online platform is used by 3.3 million Albanians, who are active at home or abroad.

Rama said that 49 million services have been provided since 2020.

Rama added that these services have avoided queues, counters and eliminated corruption.

"There are 3.3 million users, so virtually all Albanians who are active inside or outside the country, use the platform and businesses, all use the platform and since 2020, 49 million services have been provided.

Now, imagine 49 million queues.

49 million eye-to-eye and ear-to-ear, breath-to-breath contacts with the state at counters. 49 million lines. 49 million cases where the possibility of coming out stressed from the contact or even having the feeling of a hand reaching into your pants to ask for money is a real possibility.

All of these eliminated. Eliminated along with the plague of endemic corruption that was a plague that persecuted Albania at every turn, at every step.

It no longer exists! We have conducted an international audit of the platform to fully understand what this transformation has produced.

620 million euros saved for citizens and businesses just from this transformation, just from eliminating queues, just from saving time.

"1 billion kilometers of roads, 1 billion kilometers of people traveling back and forth to get documents or, as I like to call it, the auditors have given us an example, 25,000 laps around the earth," Rama said. /CNA
