"He is greedy"/ Gaz Bardhi: Rama is 'stealing' the European

The head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, today accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of seeking to take over the European Integration Council, which was previously run by the opposition.

Through a reaction on social networks, Bardhi states that this high advisory forum for the integration process, since it was created according to the Croatian model, should not be the property of a single party.

"Nothing satisfies him anymore, Edi Rama also wants the National Integration Council!"

The National Council for European Integration is the highest advisory forum for the EU accession process. It was established in 2015 according to the Croatian model, not as the property of a party, but for inclusiveness in the process, for increased transparency, for communication with the public, for affirmation of the role of the opposition in the process. For this reason, from day one, the leadership of the Council has been left to the opposition. But today, Edi Rama has sought to take this parliamentary space away from the opposition, demanding co-leadership of the Integration Council.

Only someone greedy for power could seek to take control of even a parliamentary advisory body. Not being satisfied with either the government, the Assembly, the local government, or the control of all the powers in the country is a dangerous obsession of the ruler who has everything and is no longer satisfied with anything.

The Integration Council was not created to serve the prime minister, but to serve Albania, dragged along by the same prime minister who delayed the start of membership negotiations with the European Union for 15 years.

With his obsession with an unquenchable thirst for power, don't be surprised if Edi Rama also wants to do the job of EU ambassador in Tirana!

"For the DP Parliamentary Group, this is an unacceptable regression in the space and institutional role that the opposition has in the Assembly and in the integration process. The European integration process must remain inclusive and democratic. Any attempt to turn it into personal property is a step backward for the country and does not serve the common aspiration for EU membership," Bardhi writes. /CNA
