Conference of Speakers/Këlliçi: The majority asked for time to

The Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Party parliamentary group, Belind Këlliçi, gave a statement to the media after the meeting of the Conference of Speakers. Këlliçi stated that the majority is trying to prevent the opposition from discussing in the Assembly the main issues and problems of citizens.

"Don't forget that in the second session, the same scenario happened to prevent the opposition from speaking about the main issues and problems of justice. The same scenario to prevent the opposition, happened yesterday in the Assembly, as soon as the moment came to discuss the most important law for the country in these 4 years, the one on waste.

"We are clear about the attempt of this majority and the Speaker of the Assembly to prevent opposition MPs from asking questions to the heads of justice institutions at the next session on the 27th. Yesterday we had an attempt to modify the way questions are asked. For this reason, I have presented Pelesh and Balla with four models of European parliaments on how questions are asked in the session," said Këlliçi.

Meanwhile, regarding the three opposition requests that were discussed today at the meeting of the Conference of Speakers, the DP MP said that the majority requested time for changes and decision-making by their parliamentary group regarding the establishment of the investigative commission on the "McGonigal" case, the investigative commission on the May 11 elections, and the motion with debate on Oncology.

"On the establishment of the Commission of Inquiry for "McGonigal", the majority had a different opinion about an alternative text, different from the DP. We will wait for their alternative text to be submitted to the Assembly to see the changes they propose regarding our request. For the first time, a photo of Rama with McGonigal was published in the media in 2017.

Along with the request for the establishment of an investigative commission for the May 11 elections, it was agreed to move to the session on October 30. We have filed our requests, and the majority has agreed to bring the changes they propose. There was no debate and it is expected that the majority will come up with an alternative text.

For the motion with debate on Oncology, this too has not received a final decision from the majority, who requested more time, until Monday from the head of the SP group. We have requested the motion with debate for such a serious and sensitive situation for citizens. This is an issue beyond political parties. Thus, for the third request, more time has been requested from the SP for decision-making. ", said Këlliçi. /CNA
