"Nano didn't keep his word"/ Former minister: Rama has changed

Former minister, Lufter Xhuveli, shared today some memories and impressions about some of the politicians of the last 30 years in Albania.

In a television appearance, Xhuveli described former Prime Minister Fatos Nano as an erudite and polyglot, but one who did not keep his word.

Regarding Prime Minister Edi Rama, Xhuveli said that he is a political game changer and ironic.

As for the leader of the Democrat Party, Sali Berisha, the former Minister of Environment said that he is a traditional man with a phenomenal memory.

"Fatos Nano is erudite, polyglot, knows economics well, liked music, but that's it. He didn't govern well. He didn't keep his word. He had an extraordinary arrogance, an arrogance that I couldn't stand, because I was arrogant about myself, he wanted to extend it to me too.

A grotesque event occurred, I described it in the book, it was the 'Nano 4' government of 2003-2005, one day when Fatos thought he had reached who knows how high, after he had said that history is behind me, the director of the cabinet, Emin Barçi, came to us, Fatos arrived 20 minutes late, I went at 10:20 and we waited there... He tells us, gentlemen ministers, the prime minister will arrive in a little while and when he arrives you must stand up.

But when the prime minister arrives, the ministers do not stand up. We hear a commotion in the corridor; the prime minister of Albania, His Excellency Mr. Fatos Nano, is coming. It reminds you of the American Congress when it says the president is coming… Those at the top, from the middle up, stood up like obedient soldiers, the rest of us as if lazily, Fatos came straight with his head down, left his bag on the table and then turned to us. The second time, the same pattern, the first ones stood up as if lazily, we halfway and those at the bottom only moved a little.

I can't evaluate Edi Rama because I haven't had the chance to know him. I don't take him seriously. He's attractive, he's smart, he's attractive, I called him a "political game changer" there, he's ironic, I called him that there. But I haven't worked with him.

"From the right? I worked with Sali Berisha. A knowledgeable, well-read man, he has a phenomenal, extraordinary memory, he is a traditional man who values ??family, I felt comfortable with him," said Xhuveli./ CNA
