Prime Minister Edi Rama participated today in a panel discussion as part of the Sustainable Development Week summit taking place in Abu Dhabi. 

Rama said during his speech that in the last decade, investments have been made in solar and wind energy. The head of government added that by the end of 2028, Albania will no longer buy energy from abroad.

"We have water resources and we are 100% renewable energy. We are at the highest level of the ranking. Water resources mean that we depend on the mood of Allah. So we have to turn to imports and this becomes difficult. In this last decade, we have made it possible to invest in solar and wind energy. So we no longer need to turn to imports and be sovereign. The plan is going well and I believe that by the end of 2028 we will be sovereign and will not buy energy from abroad. We also have a strategic cooperation and this has happened thanks to your great leader who has a vision that goes beyond borders. He thinks of serving humanity and touching the lives of hundreds of millions of people outside your country. Our ambition is to have a trilateral cooperation together with the United Arab Emirates and Italy. Through the interconnection cable with Italy, we will serve Europe ," Rama said. /CNA
