The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, declared that the DP has completed the process of fully institutionalizing its forums, which he described as the deepest process of renewal of the party since its founding.

Berisha said that the new composition of the National Council reflects a greater representation of youth and women, emphasizing that they constitute 60% of the members of this forum.

According to him, two-thirds of the new Presidency have been elected for the first time, while the three vice-presidents and most of the secretaries are new names in the party leadership.

Berisha highlighted the institutionalization of the role of the diaspora in the party's leadership structures. He announced that for the first time a vice-president of the DP and a secretary dedicated to the diaspora have been elected, while emphasizing that other steps will be taken to increase the representation of Albanians abroad in the political life of the party and Albania.

"We left behind a special week, in which the DP completed the full institutionalization of its forums. On this occasion, what I want to inform all of you is that this process took place under the motto of the renewal of the DP and I tell you with pleasure, not only of renewal in terms of numbers, but also of the deficit proportions in this party.

Thus, today in the National Council of the Democratic Party, 60 percent are made up of young people and women, and this is a very important proportion for us because we inherited a deformation from which we finally separated ourselves.

Two-thirds of the elected leadership of the DP are elected for the first time, as are three vice-chairmen of the DP. Out of 14 secretaries, only 3 are re-elected. So, I can inform you that this is the deepest process of renewal of the DP since its establishment.

But on the other hand, necessary proportions of representation have been established in this party. I am convinced that the fundamental demand for every citizen and member, supporter of this party has been renewal. I assure you that in this process, not only the statistics have changed, but the DP has revealed qualities and values ??among the most outstanding.

So in its last mile, it has a team equipped with all the skills to lead this party to the successful fulfillment of its mission.

I must emphasize on this occasion that we are a party that is based on the votes of our members and I express deep gratitude to all my colleagues who were not elected, who have made an extraordinary contribution.

I have the highest regard for them. I emphasize that many of them have other very important functions in the DP, its parliamentary group, and missions towards fundamental reforms in the interest of this party and the country.

This is what I wanted to inform you. But I must say again with pleasure that the renewal process does not stop and will not stop. I had repeatedly affirmed that the DP has around it distinguished personalities, individuals with excellent values ??in their fields.

And not a few of them competed successfully in this process. But there are many others who have expressed their willingness and are connected to the DP. They have expressed their willingness to contribute, to make available to the Albanian citizens, to the vision of this party, all their intellectual and professional potential, in Albania, in Europe and in the world and wherever they are.

For the first time in this renewal process, the role and place of the diaspora was institutionalized. First important steps have been taken. A party vice-chairwoman and a secretary for the diaspora have been elected. Further efforts will be made to re-dimension the role of the diaspora in the political life of the DP and Albania. So, for all those who rightly sought and expected renewal as a main feature, I think that important steps have been taken and more will come”, said Berisha./ CNA
