The candidate of the "Together We Win" coalition for the municipality of Elbasan, Luciano Boçi, has stated that the fall of the Euro is bringing the risk that 12,000 fashion workers will lose their jobs.

Through a status on social networks, Boçi writes that the government should take measures and intervene to avoid millions of euros in losses.

He also points out that the fall of the euro has led to a decrease in exports, describing this as a very alarming issue.

According to Boç, the Euro has been lowered on purpose by the Bank of Albania to allow the government the opportunity to obtain fresh debt. He says that the government takes this money to its customers.

12,000 people working in the fashion sector in Elbasan risk losing their jobs, if the government does not intervene to normalize the Euro currency rate. The fall of the Euro caused this sector a loss of 225 million euros last year.

The fall of the Euro has reduced exports. This situation threatens 12,000 jobs in Elbasan, or nearly 25% of the municipality's families.

This issue is very alarming!

For those who don't know, including you coming on Tuesday - the fashion sector in Albania is the second largest employer after the state. And it is the most important sector in bringing foreign currency to the country. In this country, which is heavily dependent on imports and imported goods, the arrival of foreign currency is vital to maintain the balance of the cost of living.

The Euro has been devalued on purpose by the Bank of Albania to allow the government the opportunity to take on fresh debt. The government takes this money to its customers.

The companies of this sector (but not only them) have faced this debt, which produces red flags of tenders and black flags of poverty throughout Albania.

The fall of the euro has devalued all the contracts of fason companies. At the same time, they will collect less and have to pay more - either in salaries or in other costs. According to the operators of the sector, since the beginning of the pandemic, the indirect costs of these businesses have doubled.

In fact - thanks to the very large number of employees - this business bore the brunt during the pandemic, when the government gave workers only one monthly salary and did 20 months of propaganda, while companies paid the other salaries every month.

Propaganda is not food. It doesn't convert to anything but ashes.

I would have very willingly proposed the establishment of the free economic/commercial zone in Elbasan. But the one who comes on Tuesday considers Elbasan and its inhabitants as enemies.

You who come on Tuesday have nothing to do with the fate of Albanians.

You talk about the Open Balkans, but Serbia and North Macedonia have frozen the Euro in exchange value (for years now) to protect their economies. You are using it as an instrument to steal from citizens and their businesses.

Skopje has two free economic zones. Belgrade too. Finally, even Prishtina or Tetova have designed their free (economic) zones. We don't have any. Not even in Tirana, and even less in Elbasan.

In the meantime, I have mentioned that we will create our brand "Made in Elbasan" and we will also include fashion products there.

We need to create an independent and integrated Albanian clothing and footwear product. We have the experience. We have the courage. And we need the political will to start a radical change process.

I invite the government to - since it lowered the Euro, also lower the prices of those products that come from abroad and are bought with Euros.
