Rama: Transport of toxic waste by sea is not prohibited
Prime Minister Edi Rama

During the interpellation on hazardous waste, Prime Minister Edi Rama claimed that the accusations of non-action of the Durrës port administration are illogical and psychopathological.

Rama said that even if the waste is dangerous, its transportation by sea is not prohibited.

He stated that Asian countries, EU countries and Israel have accepted such waste in the last 5 years.

"Even the allusion to the non-action of the port or maritime administration is at best illogical and at worst we are dealing with a psychopathological allusion, articulated by Tirana's political and media polluting sources. Even if these goods were dangerous, their transportation by sea is not prohibited either by that sea or international. Industrial technological waste is usually transported by sea following the implementation of international codes.

The waste export procedure is based on the provisions of the law on integrated waste management.

Following any line of logic, leads to the conclusion that they have never approved the export of hazardous waste in any case, the claim that there was no approval from Thailand is as stable as the liquid discharge of that mouth can be. Since there is no way to get approval from Thailand for the cargo in question when Albania itself did not have any authorization to give. Such cargoes are received regularly, from places of final transport.

360 such units have been received in the last 10 years from Asian countries. In the last 5 years, such cargoes were accepted by Spain, France and Belgium, or Turkey and Israel", said Rama. / CNA
