The Democratic Party's candidate in the May 11 elections for the Tirana District, Ilda Zhulali, commented today on the inclusion of women in Albanian politics. Invited to the show 'Log', Zhulali emphasized that women have evolved in politics in Albania, as in every other aspect of life.

"Politics, like any other aspect of life, has evolved. Today there are more women in public life, in business, in management, educated and in politics, of course. And they are represented in a qualitative way, they are active in politics, they convey the voice of women. In the DP, funding is the same for both men and women," said Zhulali.

When asked about the Socialist Party's 52% of closed lists having women, Zhulali responded by saying that for the socialist leader, women's participation is political rhetoric and simply more numbers on the electoral lists.

Zhulali said that the representation of women in politics should be what they bring not only to politics, but also to society.

"He treats women as numbers, it is political rhetoric that he has spread even in this banal and not at all dignified campaign, with language that is not worthy of women. Speaking to women in a disparaging manner about their husbands does not seem right to me. We are not in a war between women and men. The representation of women in politics should be what they bring not only to politics, but also to society. Women do not feel discriminated against, but as a patriarchal society, especially in a political race, we do not have an advantage over men. However, there is an evolution in the representation of women in a dignified manner", - said Zhulali. /CNA
