Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, participated in the 5th International Conference on Sustainable and Intelligent Marines held in Monaco.

Balluku, in a statement to the media, said that Albania will be in step with other neighboring and regional countries in terms of the maritime and marina industry.

The Minister said that for three months, in collaboration with the "Luca Dini" studio team and the well-known architect, she has been drafting the Sustainable Marines strategy, which is looking for young men and women.

"Today, the 5th International Conference on Sustainable and Intelligent Marines took place in Monaco. Albania is participating for the first time as for the first time we have started designing a strategy for the development of marine areas from north to south to turn Albania into a stepping stone in the heart of the Mediterranean, just as our neighbors Croatia, Montenegro or Greece have done.

In recent years, the maritime industry has experienced significant development. The plan to build a new commercial port in the Porto Romano area, or the construction of a new port in Triport, has given a new impetus to the marina industry, as the Durrës and Vlora marinas will soon begin their operations.

But on the other hand, this new industry, part of the maritime industry, is developing with substantial and innovative steps throughout Europe.

Albania must be on the same page with other European countries and today in Monaco has served to create very good connections from the various governments that participated, as was the case with the Minister of Public Works and Maritime Industry of Monaco and other colleagues.

I had the opportunity to discuss with many foreign investors from around the world, who are very interested in the maritime industry in Albania.

Today, I was accompanied by Luca Dini's team and the renowned Italian architect, who has been working with the Ministry of Infrastructure for three months to draft the Maritime Strategy, the Strategy for Intelligent and Sustainable Marines.

All this work will turn Albania into a Mediterranean step of an industry as part of tourism, which has already become one of the most important sectors of our economy, but which must have as much innovation as possible to create sustainability for the coming decades.

Today was an excellent day to promote the entire progress of Albanian infrastructure, including aviation, road and maritime.

The good news is that this new infrastructure, this sector that will be developed, will need young men and women, who need to be trained and educated on these innovations of the maritime industry, said Balluku./ CNA
