The Chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has reacted to the clashes between the opposition and the Guard of the Republic at the Presidency of the Assembly.

Through a status on social networks, Meta strongly condemns the militarization of the Assembly of the Republic of Albania.

He claims that today the constitutional rights of the opposition were destroyed and political pluralism and accountability were attacked.

"I strongly condemn the militarization of the most important institution of the Republic, the Assembly of Albania.

The annihilation of the constitutional rights of the opposition is an attack on political pluralism and accountability to citizens.

The Freedom Party firmly supports the position of the opposition, and in particular:

- Guaranteeing the establishment of investigative commissions in the Assembly;

- The right of the opposition to choose its representatives in the Electoral Reform Commission;

- Guaranteeing the review of all draft laws that the opposition has submitted to the Assembly and that have been blocked for years.

Opposition MPs represent the voice of over 700,000 citizens who have the right to be heard.

This serious crisis cannot be solved with the Guard of the Republic, but with the respect of the Constitution and the Rules of the Assembly, as the basis of the functioning of democracy and the rule of law ", he emphasizes./ CNA
