The Democratic Party and several small opposition parties are in an advanced stage of discussions to create a common front in the upcoming elections, as well as a unified stance regarding changes to the electoral code.

According to the representative of the Forum for Political Dialogue, Ermal Hasimja, the parties have reached an agreement in principle, while work is currently underway on its concrete details.

He announced that the proposal discussed between the parties includes a national proportional electoral system with open lists and the possibility of pre-election coalitions. This model was proposed by the Forum and two opposition parties, and was accepted in principle by the Democratic Party.

According to Hasimja, the aim of this system is to guarantee fairer representation of citizens, a more open electoral competition and an increased role for individual candidates through open lists. He also emphasizes that such a formula would create more space for new opposition parties.

Negotiations between the parties are expected to continue in the coming days to finalize the agreement and detail the mechanisms for cooperation in the elections./ CNA
