Albania and Italy signed today the Memorandum of Cooperation on public health.
The agreement between the Institute of Public Health and the Instituto Superiore di Sanità aims to advance expertise, strengthen capacities and harmonize with the best contemporary standards.
In her speech, the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Evis Sala, focused on the framework of cooperation that this memorandum offers, mainly in several priority areas of public health.
"Through this Memorandum, we establish a clear framework for cooperation in priority areas such as epidemiological surveillance, antimicrobial resistance, environmental health, food safety and non-communicable diseases, giving a special role to innovation and technology in public health," said Sala.
Meanwhile, after this step, work is expected to begin on the new Laboratory Corps, which will include all infectious and non-infectious disease laboratories, which will serve for scientific research and for a faster and more comprehensive response to public health emergencies. /CNA
