MP Blerina Gjylameti has shared a message regarding the end of her term as MP, as the last plenary session for this legislature took place today.
Through a long post on social media, Gjylameti wrote that it was an extraordinary privilege to be given the opportunity to represent the voice of citizens.
Gjylameti adds that a new stage in public service is now waiting for him.
"Dear citizens, friends, collaborators and fellow travelers on this political journey,
After twelve years as a representative in the Albanian Parliament, today I feel the need to share with you some thoughts, feelings, and reflections.
It has been an extraordinary privilege. I have been given the opportunity to represent your voice in the Albanian Parliament, to be part of decisions that have affected the lives of many Albanian families, to protect values ??and build bridges of cooperation between citizens and institutions. I have done it with honesty, dedication and without sparing myself, because I believe that politics is, above all, service and responsibility.
I have fought for equality and more opportunities for women, for young people, for families in need of support, and for a fairer and more solidary society. I have firmly believed in the ideal of a European Albania and I will continue to believe in this ideal, regardless of my institutional role.
I cannot hide that the election result was a moment of reflection for the contribution made with a clear conscience, to serve the people and my country. I gave my best at every moment. I think that, even though I will no longer be part of Parliament, civic engagement has no end – because commitment to the community is not related to a mandate, but is a way of life.
So today I am not leaving, but simply paving the way for a new stage. Another phase of public service – perhaps in a different form, but with the same passion and the same principles that have guided me until now.
I wish much success to my colleagues, old and especially young, who, together with our captain Edi Rama, will continue the history of the Socialist Party in the Parliament of Albania. This time, not only as a continuation of the path started at the beginning of the transition, but above all to bring to the end the mission of transforming Albania into a European country.
We have a lot of work ahead of us to reward the trust and vote with which citizens have entrusted us with their future and that of the country.
"With gratitude and humility," Gjylameti left. /CNA
