The Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, showed the objectives for the year 2024 at the Congress of the Socialist Party.

Peleshi said that his and Prime Minister Edi Rama's vision is for Albania to become a strong factor of stability for the Western Balkans.

He stated that the plans of the Ministry of Defense include the establishment and strengthening of the air defense fleet, anti-drone defense, the addition of the fleet, a strong factor of stability for the Western Balkans, or even the construction of the Military Port of Porto Romano.

"We translate KM's vision for Albania as the Europe of the Balkans in the language of security and defense: To replace a strong Albania - which means a strong factor of stability for the Western Balkans.

• In addition to working and investing for the fulfillment of NATO's capacity objectives, we will work for a national stability, for strengthening our national defense capacities - According to Article 3 of the NATO Treaty.

Our medium and long-term projects envisage the establishment and strengthening of:

• Air defense and anti-drone defense system

• Increasing the fleet of Blackhaëck helicopters

• The construction of the Military Port of Porto Romano, as a NATO auxiliary tactical base with the model of the Kuçova Air Base.

• That together with our strategic allies we will work to build security along CORRIDOR VIII, a European corridor that connects the Black Sea with the Adriatic Sea or in other words the Adriatic with the eastern wing of our alliance, the most threatened wing of NATO.

• Military education will be a permanent component of our defense development, not only to provide the necessary education for the military, but also to cultivate character and a sense of patriotism. The internationalization of military education to contribute knowledge to the countries of the region and beyond has already begun", he emphasized, among other things./ CNA
