Prime Minister Edi Rama has started the "Notes of the Week" column in today's episode of the "Flasim" podcast with the protests and the Zvërnec issue.

Rama states that nowadays illusions are being created even in open spaces, while adding that those who protest for the protection of nature and flamingos should first verify the facts.

The head of government emphasizes that those who think they are defending Zvërnec are defending the interests of someone for whom the interests of Albania have no value. According to him, the protesters have become soldiers in a battle that is no longer theirs.

"History reminds us how dangerous it is not to have ideals, but how dangerous it is to let ideals be built into illusions or to leave them in the hands of those who become your hostages. The nightmare and curse of our era where illusions are not only produced by propaganda but also in the space of freedom, with the limitlessness of the possibility to select and multiply by algorithms that have no interest in the truth but only in our attention, false narratives and wrong paths.

The more anger, fear, shock, the more the illusion is spread that little by little, by detaching from reality, man in the reality curated by the algorithm can change the world. That is why today there are many people who come out to protest with sincere convictions, as there are here not far from where I am speaking, people who think that by going out to protest they are protecting nature and flamingos.

Everything is legitimate and deserves respect, but from whom are they being protected? From me, from us who have had the protection of nature as the leitmotif of our work. Therefore, my call is with respect for the motive, the obligation to verify the facts should not be excluded.  A person thinks that he is protecting Zvërnec, while he is protecting the interests of someone else, for whom the interests of Albania have no value. A person thinks that he is fighting for something noble, while he has become a soldier in a battle that is no longer his own , "said Rama. /CNA
