Although the DP had warned that it would boycott it, MP Ina Zhupa and several other MPs from Lulzim Basha's group appeared at the extraordinary parliamentary session, where Bajram Begaj was sworn in as President.

After the swearing in of the new Head of State, Zhupa justified her participation in this session.

In a statement to the media, Zhupa said that she participated in Begaj's swearing-in, as the mandate of the MP obliges her.

She declared to the journalists that the president of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, knew about her participation and emphasized that the election of the new President was one-sided.

“Presidenti foli si garant që do të qëndrojë mbi palët politike dhe do të jetë aty për të respektuar Kushtetutën dhe ligjet e Shqipërisë. Nga puna si deputete e kisha detyrë institucionale që të respektoja Kushtetutën dhe institucionet e vendit. Shpresoj dhe jam e bindur që Bajram Begaj do të dekretojë qeverinë e Partisë Demokratike qoftë me zgjedhje.

Ç’është e drejta e keni parë deklaratën e Partisë Demorkatike. PD me të drejtë e ka cilësuar ditën e sotme si ditën e vendosjes së monizmit, sepse edhe Presidenti u vendos nga Edi Rama. Prezenca ime këtu, nuk është se kemi pasur një qëndrim apo mbledhje grupi, por një qëndrim zyrtar të PD. Por gjithsecili anëtar merr një vendim personal. Patjetër që zoti Berisha është në dijeni të prezencës sime sot këtu”, theksoi Zhupa./ B.A. - CNA.al
