The chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has reacted to the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Through a social media status, Meta says he feels deeply saddened by the Queen's passing.

As he expresses his condolences to the Royal Family, the Government and the British people, the former president appreciates the contribution of Queen Elizabeth II to relations between countries.

"Deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty, Elizabeth II, admired around the world for her inspirational leadership, dedication and unwavering commitment!

Appreciating her outstanding contribution to the all-round strengthening of the excellent relations between the Republic of Albania and the United Kingdom, I am convinced that her distinguished public and international figure and leadership will always be remembered with the deepest respect.
