"Dangerous for the opposition"/ Haxhimali: A new territorial reform

The executive director of the Institute for Municipalities, Agron Haxhimali, commented today regarding the administrative-territorial reform in Albania.

In an interview with A2CNN, Haxhimali stated that the changes in this reform will have electoral impacts, as another division of borders brings new dynamics.

Haxhimali said that the number of municipalities is also an important factor in the electoral system, as he mentioned the case of the opposition, which has only won 6 municipalities since the last elections.

"The fact that is happening now shows that the current model has not worked. Are there electoral impacts? Unquestionably. Changing the boundaries changes the electoral dynamics. The number of municipalities is a determining factor in the national electoral system, noting that the opposition currently has only 6 municipalities, which in the last parliamentary elections gave positive results. I have the impression that in 10 years we will be talking about reform 2.01," said Haxhimali. /CNA
