Rama's 4th Mandate for Health: We will rely on two important pillars

Prime Minister Rama continued today with the presentation of the new cabinet ministers, who officially took charge of their respective ministries.

Prof. Dr. Evis Sala is the new Minister of Health and Social Welfare, whom Prime Minister Rama introduced today at the Mother Teresa University Hospital Center, as an excellent former student of the Faculty of Medicine, who for almost 30 years has created one of the most impressive careers among Albanians in Europe and the world, standing out as a doctor, as an academic and as a leader in some of the most renowned universities and centers in the world.

During his speech, Rama made an analysis of what the government has done in previous mandates while also sharing the vision of what it will do in Health in its fourth mandate.

"In our first term, we closed the deep holes of inherited debts in our healthcare system.

In the other two mandates, we made substantial investments to transform the infrastructure of our healthcare system, where we practically transformed many hospitals, built new hospitals and hundreds and hundreds of Health Centers.

In the third term, we significantly increased the salaries of doctors and nurses, placing them at a level similar to the region.

Meanwhile, in the fourth mandate, we want to go further and delve deeper into the content of the transformation in terms of what healthcare, our healthcare system, our healthcare service should offer to citizens beyond the transformed infrastructure and beyond what we owe to doctors and nurses as a reward for their work.

I believe that some key milestones have been set. It is very clear that there are two important pillars on which we will rely, on the one hand the further creation and expansion of alliances with international excellence and on the other hand the priority introduction of Artificial Intelligence into our healthcare system.

In the first aspect, we have already opened a route and here in the territories of the QSUT we have also signed an agreement with one of the Italian and European excellences, both for the administration of the QSUT and for the university we want to create a synergy between the "Vita e Salute" university and our medical university.

We have started a direct collaboration for the Oncology Hospital with one of the best hospitals in the world, number eight in the world, “Sheba” in Israel. We want to go further with the opening of a new medical university in Fier, next to the “Memorial” hospital.

We want to go further with the construction of a hospital of excellence that will also offer services, as a reference point for health tourism and that will be able to cope with the very high demands during, especially the summer season, for hospital services. And on the other hand, we are in discussions to establish a strategic partnership with one of the most well-known companies in the field of Artificial Intelligence in the service of health, which is practically the only "unicorn" in health that the United Kingdom has so far.

All of these and more will certainly be the focus of the new minister, to whom I am passing the floor to say a few things today on the day of her presentation and, of course, wishing her good work with former colleagues, in the same territories and with colleagues who have been reunited in these same territories, after a tour of the world, and hoping that the indisputable professional understanding will then bring the necessary understanding in terms of administration, each and every one according to their level of responsibility and position", said Rama./ CNA
