Democratic Party MP Belind Këlliçi has declared that the opposition will vote to dismiss Mayor Erion Veliaj.

Invited to MCN TV, Këlliçi stated that the opposition has been launching the action to dismantle Veliaj since the denunciations were made about Xhon Belushi Street, etc.

Këlliçi stressed that the opposition's position is firm and the DP advisors have filed a request for Veliaj's dismissal, with the legal justification for not showing up for work for three months.

"We have started the action to dismantle Veliaj since I won the primaries to be a candidate. SPAK has officially returned for the second time to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office the file that was the starting point of my denunciations, for Xhon Belushi Street, which was an open tender, but in the meantime it was ending. Mazniku was questioned, SPAK has referred him to the Prosecutor's Office for incompetence. We have started the entire action for Veliaj since January 2023. Rama, Balluku, Mazniku and who knows what else have been put on the back of the street.

Our position is firm, the DP councilors have filed a request for Veliaj's dismissal, with the same legal justification for not showing up for work for three months. On May 12, we filed the request, but the SP councilors did not put it on the agenda at that time. The opposition will vote as it requested on May 12, it will vote for dismissal", declared the DP MP Belind Këlliçi.

We recall that Erion Veliaj was politically dismissed by Prime Minister Edi Rama on September 11 at the SP Assembly meeting.

After his political dismissal, Rama nominated Ogerta Manastirliu for mayor.
